In line with the opportunity for change a new year brings, Ilala Lodge are currently revamping their 24 Standard Garden Rooms. The refurbishment began on 16 January 2017, and looks to be completed by April 2017.
The upgrade will see the installation of a new bathroom design: all baths will be replaced with walk-in showers and a convenient vanity area will be added. New, lush carpets will be laid, and sliding doors will be fitted to replace the existing French Doors, leading out onto the manicured lawn. What’s more, mini fridges will be placed in all Standard Rooms, as will coffee pod machines. In such a highly competitive industry, it’s truly is the little things that make all the difference.
Ilala anticipates minimal disruptions to guests during this period as they will only allocate rooms away from the refurbishment area and, where possible, will provide guests with upgrades to the Deluxe Rooms in the West Wing.
In addition to the Standard Room upgrades, a new guest lounge area will be created to allow for more seating capacity near the current reception. This will ensure that guests have somewhere comfortable to wait for their transfers and excursions.
Ilala Lodge’s last major upgrade was the construction of the West Wing. Officially opened in October 2015, the wing features an additional 22 room and suites: 12 double deluxe rooms, 8 twin deluxe rooms, and two executive suites. The Executive Suites, in particular, are a cut above the rest, featuring stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, a large bathroom with his and her basins and a spacious living room. However, one of the most exciting features of the new rooms and suites was a view of the spray from Victoria Falls.
In reference to the new wing, Ilala’s General Manager, Martin Vaughan, said: “The lodge’s growth and expansion is directly proportionate to the demand we are experiencing.” And this still holds true for the latest round of changes made to the lodge!
