There is nothing that fans of rock music love more than a music festival. The hottest bands, the coolest people and that vibe you just can’t find anywhere else – nothing could be more awesome!

Mention the word ‘rock fest’ to most people and it brings to mind those images of Woodstock that we have all seen on TV and in the movies, but what if someone told you that there is a festival in Zimbabwe to rival the best anywhere?  If you’re surprised and can’t wait to find out more, read our preview of the 2011 Vic Falls Fest.

If you haven’t made plans for this coming New Year’s Eve, keep your diary open!  Imagine a music festival in the beautiful setting of Victoria Falls, with wide open spaces, the hottest new bands and a whole bunch of fun-loving rock fans having the biggest New Year’s party you’ve ever seen!  The 2010 Vic Falls Fest was a huge success, and the organisers have even greater things planned for 2011.

Where is it taking place?

The Vic Falls Fest takes place near Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, an international tourist hotspot and an area of amazing natural beauty. The perfect setting for an awesome rocking good time!

How do I get there?

Flights to Vic Falls are available throughout the Southern African region. Several bus services also exist from Harare and Buluwayo.

Where can I stay?

A variety of accommodation options are available at Vic Falls. If you are planning to camp out, the Vic Falls Rest Camp and Shaloo Campsite provide safe, clean facilities at a rate of $10 per person per night. There are also several hotels and lodges in the area, including the Ilala lodge.

Who is playing?

This year’s line-up includes Cape Town-based band Locnville, whose electro hop sound will get you moving! London-based rockers Ryan Koriya and Crash Car Burn inject some European sound into the mix, while Zimbabwean groups Evicted and DJ Macson show off the local sound!  Other artists include GHAPI, The First Descent, and DJ Francis.

How much do tickets cost?

Standard tickets cost $50 per person per night, with VIP tickets costing $80. VIP ticket holders enjoy access to a covered area, bar, and other facilities with the chance to meet some of the musicians.
