Ilala Lodge Hotel FAQ's

1. Do you offer airport transfers to Ilala Lodge Hotel?

Yes, we do.
Pick up and drop off to Victoria Falls Airport – US$16 per person each way (approximately 30 minutes drive)
Pick up and drop off to Livingstone Airport (Zambia) – US$40 per person each way (approximately 1 hour)
Pick up and drop off to Kasane Aiport (Botswana) – US$68 per person each way (approximately 1.5 – 2 hours)

 

2. How far is Ilala Lodge Hotel from the Victoria Falls?

It is a gentle 7 – 10 minute walk from the front door of the hotel. Alternatively, we can arrange a taxi for those less mobile.


3. Do I need to rent a car in Victoria Falls?

It is not necessary to rent a car in Victoria Falls. We provide airport transfers, inter-hotel transfers and all activities have transfers to and from the hotel included in the cost.


4. Do you have Wi-Fi at the hotel?

Yes, we do have free Wi-Fi access. Please note, however, that at times the speed can be slow.


5. Do you host weddings at Ilala Lodge Hotel?

On occasion, we do host weddings. However, all the rooms in the hotel need to be booked out by the wedding party and wedding guests for a minimum of 2 nights. It is not possible to have non-wedding guests staying at the hotel during the wedding period.


6. Do you have mosquito nets over the beds?

Our Standard Suites and Executive Suites will have 4 poster mosquito netting over each bed.  Our standard rooms and deluxe rooms do not.  However, there are air conditioning units as well as extra mosquito spray and cream available in each room.


7. Should I take malaria medication before travelling to Victoria Falls?

Although Victoria Falls is not considered a very high-risk malarial area, it is advisable to seek advice from your doctor before travelling to the area to be 100% safe.


8. Are there fridges in the rooms?

Only our Standard Suites and Executive Suites have small fridges.


9. Does your restaurant cater for Vegans / Kosher / Vegetarians / Halaal?

Yes, we can cater for specific nutritional needs.  However, please inform the hotel of your requirements a few weeks in advance so the Chef can ensure we have the correct foods in stock for your arrival.  Our general menu does offer Vegetarian options.


10.    What is the difference between a standard sunset cruise and a Ra-Ikane sunset cruise?

The Standard Cruise is onboard a pontoon vessel that can take up to 16 passengers at a time. The cruise departs at 4:00pm / 4:30pm (depending on the season) and is for a 2 hour duration. All drinks and snacks are served onboard and are included in the price.

 

The Ra-Ikane Cruise is onboard our luxury vessel which is similar to Dr David Livingstone’s vessel, the Ma-Robert.  It is the only boat of its kind on the river (although we will be introducing two more in the near future).  It takes a maximum of 10 – 12 passengers.  All drinks and snacks are served on board and are included in the price.


11. Are there ATMs near the hotel?

Yes, we have ATMs located just outside the hotel and US Dollars are available for withdrawal.


12. What currencies do you accept at the hotel?

We accept US Dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling and South African Rands.


13. What credit cards do you accept at the hotel?

We accept Visa and Mastercard only.


14. Is it possible to add an extra bed to a Standard Room?

Unfortunately, we cannot add an extra bed to a Standard Room.  Our Standard Suites each have a King size bed plus an extra ¾ bed.  Alternatively, for families with children, we can recommend inter-leading Standard Rooms.


15. Do you have family rooms?

We don’t have family rooms but recommend inter-leading Standard Rooms for families.


16. Do you offer babysitting services?

Yes. We can arrange a babysitter on request. Please advise the hotel at least 24hrs before.


17. How close is the hotel to the centre of Victoria Falls town?

Our hotel is situated in the centre of the Vic Falls town, close to the banks and ATMs.  We are within walking distance to the Victoria Falls, The Kingdom Hotel, The Victoria Falls Hotel and the Victoria Falls Bridge (bungee jump, etc.)


18. How many rooms do you have?

We currently have 32 standard rooms, 2 Standard Suites, 2 Executive Suites and 20 Deluxe Rooms.

 

19. Do you have hair dryers in the rooms?

Yes.  All rooms have hair dryers available.


20. What type of plug points do you have at the hotel and should I bring an adaptor?

We have the same 3 point square plugs as Britain and the UK.  It is advisable to bring a universal adaptor when you visit. Please note that American electrical goods and appliances have a different voltage to UK and Africa.
