The Econet Victoria Falls Marathon was, once again, an outstanding success, attracting over 1500 athletes from around the world to experience one of the most beautiful races in Africa.
Tanzanian national Millen Matende took home first prize in the 42km race, closely followed by Zimbabwean Nkosiyazi Sibanda, who has dominated the marathon since 2012. Matende, who runs for the Black Rhinos, finished in a time of 2:19:01. Local veteran Thabita Tsatsa claimed top honours in the female 42km category, with Olivia Chitate coming in second place. The title for the 21km male half marathon was won by Wirimayi Juwawo, and the female edition was won by Patience Murowe.
To celebrate yet another fantastic Victoria Falls Marathon, we’ve put together a range of pictures documenting the day. As can be seen, the spray from the Falls was rising in billows, the winter sun was out in full force, and fun was had by all!
