The most romantic day of the year is just days away and if you are looking for a special place to celebrate, be sure to check out our most luxurious offering, the Strathearn Suite. And if you are looking for things to do in Victoria Falls, we have 5 ideas that will appeal to the romantic in you, whenever you visit Victoria Falls!
1) Get your Hearts Racing at Devil’s Pool
We can guarantee you that this activity will get your heart racing! If you visit the Victoria Falls between mid-August to mid-January ( depending on water levels) be sure to take a dip in the famous Devil’s Pool – a natural rock pool on the very edge of the mighty Victoria Falls. The pool is accessed via a short rocky walk from the famous Livingstone Island. The pool is usually open between mid-August and mid-January depending on the water levels of the Zambezi River. Although you can quite safely swim to the edge of the rock pool to view the cascading water, it does give you a great excuse to hold your loved one’s hand a little tighter than normal! There is also the option of swimming in Angels Pool if the Devil’s Pool is closer which is not quite as close to the edge as Devil’s Pool but also accessed from Livingstone Island.
2) Get Giddy in a Helicopter Ride
Take the time to swoon at the sight of the mighty Victoria Falls from a vantage point of a helicopter – it really is a magnificent trip. David Livingstone’s quote of “Scenes so lovely they must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight” to describe the Victoria Falls is so fitting for this activity. If you have never flown in a helicopter before and are a bit nervous, please do not worry – the only giddiness you will feel is from the views, not the flying! The helicopter ride is very smooth and it will safely glide over the majestic Falls.
3) Toast your Love on a Sunset Cruise
A sunset cruise on a historical Ra-Ikane luxury boat is a must-do activity when you visit Victoria Falls. With a maximum of only 16 passengers, these smaller boats are more intimate and romantic. You will have your own private table to share with your beau, next to the side of the boat so you can take all the photographs you want. Enjoy spotting the passing wildlife on the banks, watch the sky fill up with glorious sunset colours and toast your time together with your choice of sundowner!
4) It Takes Two
“Couples that play together, stay together” is the saying. When you visit Victoria Falls, there are plenty of opportunities to scare yourselves together! Enjoy a tandem zipline – the longest in the world at 425m across the Batoka Gorge, or do a gorge swing together and experience a 70m free fall before going into a 95m long pendulum type swing.
5) Fall Head over Heels
The main attraction is the Victoria Falls waterfall, and it is gorgeous no matter the time of day you visit and you will be sure to get picture-perfect couple photographs to remember your vacation together. If you plan your trip over the full moon (check with our Activities Desk) you could be lucky enough to witness one of Africa’s most romantic sights, a midnight lunar rainbow over the Falls at night time. A lunar rainbow is created in the same way a rainbow is, water refracting through water droplets, but the effect is completely different at night. This breath-taking view is nature’s Yin to the rainbow’s Yang. Book a trip to this spectacular view for you and your loved one.
We couldn’t help but add one more suggestion…be sure to enjoy a romantic dinner at our award-winning Cassia Restaurant under star-studded African skies – food is the language of love after all!
