GOOD NEWS FOR TOURISM IN ZIMBABWE
As Victoria Falls prepares to receive 40,000 Sinopharm vaccinations as part of an extensive Covid-19 recovery program for the tourist town, which is good news for the tourism sector as a whole in Zimbabwe. After almost a year of limited tourists’ arrivals due to lockdown and travel restrictions, there is finally a very bright and hopeful light at the end of the tunnel.
The vaccination rollout, starting on Monday 22nd March will be offering free vaccinations to all residents of Victoria Falls, 18 years and older. Multiple sites around the town will be open for all to visit, including multiple “mobile sites” of which one will be coming to Ilala Lodge Hotel to ensure that our staff members are all able to willingly receive their first dose of the Covid-19 Vaccine.
Ilala Lodge Staff will continue to follow worldwide prevention protocols
Later this week, President Emmerson Mnangagwa will officially launch the vaccination program in Victoria Falls, by getting his first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine. His excellency will be accompanied by other leaders of local political parties who will also be recieving their first dose of the vaccine.
In 28 days, the second doses will start being administered to Victoria Falls locals, which means the threat of Covid-19 having fatal effects on our population will be much lower. We look forward to the positive repercussions this initiative will have on the return of international tourism tour destination.
With the rising water levels of the Zambezi River confirming that we are going to have a breath-taking high-water season at Victoria Falls – we can’t help being hopeful that more international tourists will be able to safely travel to Victoria Falls to witness this annual phenomenon.
